Boys like to haul things...

When we moved, we rented a small U-haul trailer for some of the items that we didn't want to go on the moving truck. Then began Carter's fascination with trailers , or "tray-yers" as Carter calls them. On this day, he decided he wanted to haul Murphy's dog food behind his fire , or "fighter" truck. He told me to go get some rope. I didn't have any rope immediately on hand, but I did have some of the super stretch wrap that you can buy at the Container store (this stuff is great!!). It worked well for hitching up the dog food.

Getting in "dukes" style
The fire truck & trailer got stuck and he had to bring in the tow truck.

Thanks for the sunset, Dolly!

What a beautiful sunset! I was playing around with my camera this evening after Carter went to sleep...sorry for the abundance of pictures, it was hard to pick a favorite.

Just some pictures from around the house / yard...

Fishing with dad...Having a banana....
Murphy hanging out on the couch...
Ryan mowing at sunset...

Happy 4th of July

We celebrated the 4th here at the park in town. We went early, and it wasn't quite "rockin". But we had a good time - Carter had some ice cream and I got a snow cone fix.
Carter sporting a boxing helment - I snapped this one quick - he probably only wore this for about 3 seconds.
yum!

They had several inflatables and this was a much improved version of the slip and slide. The slip and slide always seemed like a good idea as a kid until you were sliding along on your stomach and hit a rock or a sprinkler head hidden below the slide.

He was going fast!

Lovin' the outdoors

Happy dog...

Murphy and Carter both enjoy playing fetch

Throwing sticks in the pond
Looking for doodlebugs. This is such a cool tree...

Showing off his dirty hands and face

Lets fly a kite!

These pictures are back from June too...
Carter made this kite at school out of construction paper and straws - and it works really well too!
Resting after some rigorous kite flying. Poor Carter has to read torn pages from his
Thomas the Train Catalog.

Fun in the Sprinklers

These pictures are back from the first of June (and at our old house). One of Carter and Murphy's new favorite activities is to run around in the sprinklers.Cute tiny footprints! Carter loves to make "oot prints"

I know, I need to catch up...

We are getting settled in after moving and I have lots to post, including some great pictures of everyone enjoying life in the country (As soon as I find all of the parts to upload the pictures). Here is a quick summary:
  1. Carter loves dirt. Baths are much different now - and much more important.
  2. Murphy is a dog. I know many of you think he is a person, but he is also a dog. He loves exploring and patrolling his territory. Today, he brought me a tiny bone in from outside (not the store bought rawhide type) He still sleeps in our bed.
  3. Ryan and I are surviving life without conveniences. We have made two separate trips to "the city" in two weeks and are glad to know the drive is only an hour - and its beautiful!
  4. Our immediate neighbors bats, scorpions, deer, giant beetles, skunks, crawfish, turtles, snakes, fish, and an Egret who we have named Ernie. I'm sure we will meet more of our critter neighbor friends soon.
  5. Moving is much harder with a two year old and while pregnant. Thankfully, we've had a lot of help from family (thank you!). Ryan and I are at a point of exhaustion and will hopefully be motivated enough to finish unpacking before the baby comes in November.
  6. And yes, the baby....the baby BOY! Apparently our little boy played a trick on us at the earlier sonogram. No, I am not disappointed. Yes we are sure its a boy and no we are not going to have any more kids to try for a girl. I don't have that "need" to have a girl (although she would be adorably dressed), I certainly don't want chance having THREE boys. Carter is amazing, sweet, and has completely sold me on little boys. If I had a live in maid and an outdoor shower, maybe I would be open to another....no I'm really not.
Stay tuned over the next few days for pictures...
