2012 Baseball

Carter had a great season!  He showed a great deal of improvement from last year.  His next to last game he made a double play catching a fly ball and throwing a player out at second.  With only 4 players showing up to play, they all played hard and got lots of time to practice.  Singles, doubles, Carter hit every ball pitched to him!

Today was his last game.  He made several great fielding plays with one of his best buddies, Colin.

He had several solid hits including an in-park home run!

Best of all, he had FUN!

Squash

At the Agape House, where Carter takes piano and Carter takes a music class, they have a community garden. Upon leaving today, sweet Grace gave a squash to each of the kids. Cannon kept asking what we do with the squash. Unsatisfied with my answers which were various ways of saying, "We eat them," he insisted that we would plant them.

"But they have already been planted. They sprung up from seeds, received water and sunshine, flowered, grew, were picked, and are now ready to eat."

"Mom, I want to take it apart.".

" We can cook it for lunch tomorrow," I suggested.

"Mom, I'm going to need a kid knife when we get home."

So we got home, and I gave up on having him see my point of the complete life cycle of food and gave him a plastic kid knife.

He chopped it every which way possible.

He separated out the seeds and carefully put them on a napkin.

"Mom, look we can plant these and water them!"

What do I know!?

Looking Back - Carter's 6th Birthday

Well, I am a little late posting Carter's 6th birthday party pictures.  I was a tad busy around that time.  Knox was born just two weeks before his party.

Carter and Brooke decided to have their third annual dual birthday celebration at the local gym.

There was bouncing...

Cake eating....

More bouncing....

More bouncing....

 And more bouncing....

Carter and his good friend River....

Pinata time!

Cannon gives it a whack!

Not Training Anymore

About 6 months ago, Carter was at a birthday party.  Some girl friends of his told him to ride a bike (without training wheels) down the driveway.  He had never done this before.

Before I knew it, he was half way down the driveway.

However, on his own bike (and without cute little girls present) he wasn't quite ready.  Until a few days ago.

Not much commentary to add here.  It was simple.

He got on the bike.  And pedaled away.

And pedaled....and pedaled.

Great job Carter!

Trip to Enchanted Rock

The wildflowers have been beautiful this spring.  We took advantage of the beautiful spring days while we can and have made several trips out and about to explore the hill country.

A few weeks ago, we took all of the boys out to Enchanted Rock.

3 sweet boys

One of which is very drooly at 3 months old. Will he get his first tooth at 4 months old like his big brother Carter?

A mini vacation

The boys had a short spring break this year. Long story, short spring break. Basically the district broke it up into two 4 day weekends. We hadn't planned on doing much, but got the itch to leave town at the last minute.

We looked at many different places, and then realized we are fortunate enough to live in an area where many people vacation. So we took a 20 minute trip and stayed at the resort in Horseshoe Bay.

It was perfect!

Murphy had to stay behind :(

Cannon (posing as a dog) and Carter.

Knox relaxing poolside and serving as a drink caddy.

Cherry Sprites and swimming. Carter said, "this is the life!!"

They ordered PB&J, we ordered steak.

They didn't have the room we requested, so they upgraded us to a 2/2 condo for free! Cannon said, "this is the biggest bathtub ever!". The condo was bigger than our house. It was a treat.

On the looong drive home....

A milestone occurred.

The second nap Carter has taken in 3 years. The other one was the afternoon after his tonsillectomy.

We will certainly go back.

Soon.

3 boys

Last weekend we enjoyed a lot of soaking rain - an inch according to our indoor rain gage (bucket). Today the sun came out and the boys have played outside utilizing every last bit of sunshine.
The boys ended the day playing in Cannon's bed.
