Little Walk's Birthday

Carter has never been big on stuffed animals. He never HAD to have one to sleep or one which accompanied him everywhere. The tune changed, however, following his surgery in December when the Scott and White hospital staff gave him a small white bear with a red satin ribbon tied around his neck.

Carter named him "Little Walk."

Where the name came from we're not sure.

Today, the last day of February, was Little Walk's Birthday.

Carter saw this as an opportunity for a celebration.

Lainey was with the boys today and upon my return, it was evident there had been intense party preparation.

(Raffia streamers)

Little Walk's favorite colors are red and white and therefore his favorite snack is a candy cane.

When i got home, the preparations were not complete. We had to make cupcakes and wrap a present for Little Walk.

This is Little Walk and his new puppy, "ribbon." Little Walk had been asking for a puppy.

Little Walk is 6 today. He also doesn't like icing on his cupcakes. Which was nice, because bears are messy eaters.

I received a lot of phone calls today during the making of these cupcakes...

10 people that called: "Hey Valerie, what are you doing?"

Me: "Uh, I'm making cupcakes for a bear's birthday party."

We sang happy birthday too.

Carter put a great deal of thought into all of the preparations. He has such a thoughtful, indiscriminate heart, even for his stuffed animals.

Fun was had by all.

Laundry. Lots of laundry.

Today, Carter drew a picture of me. On the right is, you guessed it, laundry.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Lately, Carter has been eating.  A lot.

Usually, he eats one peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch, and then asks for a second.

He likes to make his own. He makes Cannon's too.  (It's nice!)

This day, he decided to make the biggest peanut butter and jelly sandwich. ever.

And he ate the WHOLE thing!

Along with a huge carrot!  I can't complain :)

Hot Chocolate

During this last cold snap and subsequent snowless snow day, Carter enjoyed many cups of hot chocolate while signing his Valentine's cards.

 He loves the tiny marshmellows.

He hunts them down.
