Playing together

Carter and Cannon are starting to play together more. Carter likes it most of the time, except when Cannon takes his toys. Carter's toys are always more interesting.

Carter loves to talk for Cannon in this squeaky high pitched voice. I love to listen to them play. Carter has such a great imagination.

In this picture, Cannon is mid fall. Carter told me he was trying to teach Cannon to walk.

I've been discovered...

Now they're trying to ignore me.

Sweet boys.

Day 2

Carter is on day 2 of wearing his overalls. He did kindly wear a shirt for dinner. It was an Aggie shirt and although it didn't match, it somehow still sort of "worked."

Aircraft carrier and a fort

Carter was all about building & constructing this afternoon.

This is his aircraft carrier....

And what kid doesn't love to build a fort? He turned the ottoman on it's side for the wall.

Cannon on the move

This post was originally supposed to go up 3 or so weeks ago. But due to user error technical issues, it is being posted a little late. In fact, this is old news. Cannon has the crawling thing down (more like a low-crawl like his brother did.) Now he is successfully pulling up on everything and unsuccessfully trying to cruise. Cannon is now saying "mama" "dada" and "baba" which he makes very clear is for bottle. More on that later.

For now, here is the original post----------

Cannon has been rolling, scooting, and squirming around the house for the past week or so. But today, his speed and agility have markedly improved. He is also up on all fours during many of his "maneuvers."

He can also move from tummy to sitting with ease!

Favorite words are "a ba", "a gee" (good one), "ga ga", "ba ba" (carter says ba ba is big brother."

A must

Carter insisted that he wear theese "over-rolls" and demanded that I take a picture...

I couldn't stop at just one.

Real time Cannon

Rather than going to sleep, Cannon is doing this right now...

And notice the pacifier?
After 8 1/2 months, he finally went mainstream and started using it as it was intended.

Oh, and he sleeps in a closet in our bedroom now. It's quite nice!

Swimming lessons - a turn for the better

Carter has had a total of 5 swimming lessons this summer. The first two were great, then at the third lesson, something set him off. Let's just say it was bad...and loud...and similar to what it might be like trying to put a greased pig in the pool. I was soaking wet after the lessons and I didn't even get in the pool.

So we switched to a morning class with a different teacher...

Yikes!!

I'm not ready for this...

Reading Place

When Carter has trouble sleeping he asks, "will you get my reading place set up?"

Setting up the reading place involves laying his pillow against the wall, letting him pick out a few books, covering him with a blanket, and sometimes setting a few of his stuffed animals next to him to read too. The stuffed animal involvement is by invite only-strictly enforced.

Lake weekend

This past weekend, we headed to a friend's lakehouse. Carter was outnumbered by 3 year old girls, but he didn't seem to mind.

They had the perfect setup. We hung out on the shaded boat dock, but ventured out on the boat for some tubing (Carter and Ryan-pics soon) and to eat dinner at a restaurant on the lake.

Cannon chillin' in the dock swing at 7am

Carter giving us a "gig 'em Aggies" in the boat.

Calling his friends from the dock

Ryan swinging from the trapeze!

Carter "surfing"

Cannon was feeling quite chatty. Here he is calling his friends from the restaurant.

Jill, my friend since high school, and their new baby, Austin.

And her hubby, Mason-

They had a live band, so dancing was involved.
